Outstanding JDO Club Mentors and Student Leaders JDO is thrilled to award Ms. Pihu Pant- India and Ms. Praise Tino- Uganda with an Award for Outstanding Achievement and Leadership as JDO Club Mentors and Student Leaders. Their commitment to our program and the service of others in guiding international collaboration through technology has been invaluable. These young women are the perfect examples of JDO Student Ambassadors and we are so lucky to have them embodying our mission every day in their continued support and mentorship of younger students.

JDO Composite Technology Center Grand Opening! July 2023 JDO is thrilled to announce the opening of the JDO Composite Technology Center for International Collaboration in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Mrs. Geetika Pant, JDO Training and Development Coordinator- Asia, facilitated the opening of this Center. In an increasingly interconnected world, fostering effective communication and technological proficiency is essential for preparing the next generation to thrive in a globalized society. The establishment of a Technology Center for International Collaboration aims to bridge the digital divide and empower 700 underprivileged students with advanced communication skills and technological knowledge. This initiative will enable these students to connect, collaborate, and learn from their peers across the globe, ultimately promoting cross-cultural understanding and enhancing their future prospects.

The centre aims to :
1. Empower Underprivileged Students: The primary goal of the Technology Center is to provide underprivileged students with the tools and skills they need to navigate the digital landscape confidently. By equipping them with modern communication methods and technological prowess, the Centre aims to level the playing field and ensure equal opportunities for success.
2. Global Collaboration: The Center will facilitate virtual interactions and collaborative projects among students from different countries and cultural backgrounds. This cross-cultural engagement will broaden students' perspectives, promote empathy, and instill a sense of global citizenship.
3. Enhancing Soft Skills: Effective communication extends beyond technology. The Center will also focus on enhancing soft skills such as public speaking, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving. These skills are vital for effective collaboration and leadership.JDO Technology Center for International Collaboration holds immense potential to transform the lives of underprivileged students. By equipping them with advanced communication methods and technological skills, the Center will empower these students to engage confidently in the global arena. As these students become proficient communicators and technologically adept individuals, they will be better prepared to pursue higher education, enter the workforce, and contribute positively to their communities.

JDO- Rwabu Resource Center Grand Opening! January 2023 JDO is thrilled to announce the opening of the JDO-Rwabu Resource Center in the Mukono Municipality, Uganda. Elizabeth Rwabu, JDO Training and Development Coordinator- Africa, facilitated the opening of this Center and will be the Lead Teacher onsite, assisted by Emmanuel Kakaire. The Resource Center will enable JDO Club students to build educational skills using technology for learning. It will also enable Club students to have connection, communication, and collaboration opportunities with other JDO Global Clubs worldwide. The Resource Center has already welcomed a Fulbright Specialist - Michael Bermudez, Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy at the University of Scranton, on site for a guest lecture. He led a student project involving Robotics where the students learned how to integrate the Scratch app with the Makey Makey Kit. Alot of emphasis was put on collaboration, connection and communication for this project. News of the Center has travelled beyond the community and there is a waiting list for participation from the different regions of Uganda and other countries like Kenya and Ghana. Parents are eager for their students to be involved and are willing to travel a distance for this learning opportunity.

Miss Pihu Pant, Student leader in the JDO TechPanda Club-India, was recently awarded the Best Overall Performing Student Award for her exemplary achievements in international programs and collaboration from 2019-2022. Pihu attends the Seth Anandram Jaipuria School in Vasundhara, Ghaziabad, India. JDO is proud to recognize and share Pihu's outstanding achievement. Please read her heartfelt testimonial here.

Our partner school- Central Model School in Khanewal, Pakistan has been severely impacted. Education Minister Michele Mcllveen and a member of Parliament visited Crumlin Integrated Primary School in Crumlin, Northern Ireland. She was able to observe Ms. Linda Paton's Year 5 class preparing introductory Google slides for their JDO collaboration partnership with a Ms. Joan Tremblay's class at Sacred Heart of Jesus School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania- USA.

JDO Teacher Donall Coey Receives Award Donall Coey, Crumlin Integrated Primary School teacher and JDO Partner, recently received a "Highly Commended" award for IT Educator 2022 Computing -Primary Category. This award was presented by the BCSNI -The Chartered Institute for IT, Northern Ireland Branch. The judging panel was impressed with Donall's activities and achievements for the school improvement project and his focus on digital collaboration providing training for staff and organizing digital collaboration projects for pupils locally and globally. They noted that his work has been tremendously beneficial across the school community and set a clear blueprint and foundation for ICT collaborations moving forward to enhance the ICT skills of pupils now and in the future. JDO is proud of Donall's efforts to promote and champion computing and ICT in his school and local community.

Ms. Pihu Pant received praise for her submission to the 2022 Harvard Crimson Global Essay Competition and was selected as Mini Editor for the renowned Indian Newspaper Hindustan Times School Edition! She will have a crucial role in creating children's newspaper editions.

JDO Teacher Hazel Ritchie Wins UK National Education Competition Linn Primary School Classroom Story- Video Submission Hazel Ritchie (Linn Primary School-Primary 5 Class teacher) and JDO partner teacher won an interactive display through her 'Classroom Stories' competition submission to global education technology company, Promethean. The focus of the competition was “celebrating positivity in education”. Schools across the UK were invited to make a two-minute video, illustrating a unique aspect of their classroom that made them proud. Hazel quickly got to work alongside pupils in writing, filming, and editing their entry video. The finished product focused on the valuable partnership between Linn PS and Tupoksen Yhtenäiskoulu school (led by teacher Jaana Piippo) in Finland, who came together in support of Osnovna Skola Glina, a Croatian school that had fallen victim to a devastating earthquake amidst the pandemic. Linn Primary School's entry video blew the judges away with its sincerity and poignancy, reinforcing the importance of human connection and support for children across the world who need it most. The fantastic entry saw the school claim the edtech prize. JDO is proud that our program has connected all three of these schools in such a positive and supportive way.

JDO Teacher Ann Czeponis Receives Collaboration Grant JDO’s partnerships engage students in authentic experiences that allow students to see issues at a variety of scales. Students in Barbara Furtadoo’s Global Citizenship class at Escola Eleva- Barra in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Ann Czeponis’s 8th Grade Science students at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School in Pennsylvania, USA are investigating and promoting Sustainability in their schools. Sustainability is a topic that can be considered at a local and global scale.
